What is an Umbrella?
An umbrella company is a payment intermediary service that offers employment to contractors working on temporary assignments, most commonly through a recruitment agency.
Working through an umbrella company allows temporary workers to be afforded the same employment rights to that of a permanent employee. This includes holiday pay, sick pay and a workplace pension. It is a simpler alternative to operating a Personal Service Company (PSC), involves far less administration and ensures that you remain compliant with IR35 legislation.
